Vision & Strategy

During 2004, AOpen created MoDT as a breakthrough innovation to meet emerging markets for green IT solutions. Today, AOpen stands alone as the industry leader in manufacturing cost-saving, energy-efficient MoDT ultra small form factor (uSFF) components and customizable platforms with thousands of flexible options.

In staying atop global trends for high tech environmental sustainability, AOpen has long practiced responsible green processes aligned with the latest legislation and/or conditions for accreditation by agencies such as ISO, RoHS, Energy Star, EPEAT and others. The guiding format for AOpen's environmental processes can be found in AOpen's Green Product Management System.

AOpen GREEN PRODUCT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

  1. AOpen will meet and often outperform the threshold concentration limits for controlled materials set by U.S. and international governments and environmental agencies.

  2. AOpen will manage the waste hierarchy by practicing the 3 R(s) of a Cradle-to-Cradle Production Framework

    • REDUCE
How? Miniaturize traditional IT solutions into compact, low heat and ultra energy-efficient XC Minis, Digital Engines and VIPs.

    • REUSE
How? Efficiently recover manufactured products per legal and agency-compliant standards.

    • RECYCLE
How? Use recycled raw materials per legal and agency-compliant standards.

  3. AOpen will continually develop cutting-edge sustainable practices through the AOpen Environmental Technology Labs that launched MoDT.

  4. SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT: AOpen will audit vendors occasionally and audit internal IQC and OQC processes to maintain green environmental policies achieving ISO 19011 compliancy (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001)

AOpen ENHANCED LIFE CYCLES

The AOpen philosophy of “Open & Share” encompasses a holistic business approach revolving around the premise of manufacturing open architecture and open implementation designs for eco-friendly uSFF and SFF products with the readiness for enhanced life cycles. This imperative becomes viable through AOpen's emphases on adaptability and compatibility allowing AOpen's partners to sustain business continuity while replacing and upgrading parts or customizing platforms down the road, way down the road. Ultimately, AOpen's “Open & Share” philosophy supplements AOpen's Cradle-to-Cradle production framework in that manufacturing materials and marketing resources may be put to use more efficiently, more responsibly, and more attractively, especially, to consumers becoming ever more conscious of sustainable practices.
