To provide a better fan experience, the Oklahoma City RedHawks made improvements to their Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark with the deployment of digital signage by AOPEN.
From welcoming fans at the entrance to keeping them informed about their favorite team, the new digital signage has become an intregral component in the ballpark. Selecting the right partners and using the latest technology made the installation easy and produced a warm atmosphere for the fans.
The RedHawks called on NueQ, an Oklahoma City based digital solutions provider with over 60 years of experience and AOPEN, a visual media innovator and hardware manufacturer, to transform the digital experience at their ballpark.
A project as large as the RedHawk’s Ballpark involves collaboration with many players off the field. RedHawk’s management along with the team at NueQ and AOPEN had to understand the needs of the fans and create digital solutions to meet those demands. With a growing attendance of over 400,000 visitors yearly, the Oklahoma City RedHawks needed a way to improve the fan experience and continue drawing fans back to the ballpark throughout the season.
NueQ and the RedHawks put together a game plan to create dynamic digital signage throughout the ballpark to provide information about the team, the players, and special promotions. In addition, the digital signage needed to be hung from poles and concrete walls, which made it a very challenging project. Structural limitations at the ballpark meant that special attention must be paid to the hardware and wiring, to allow flexibility for the displays.
Redhawks’ Ballpark installation consisted of multiple AOPEN solutions that offered a versatile deployment along with helpful technical support from NueQ.
Working around the concrete and steel facade, at the entrance of the ballpark an nVIEW Video Wall Solution was installed to greet fans with vibrant imagery. This video wall consists of four 46-inch LED displays connected to one AOPEN media player showcasing content of star athletes and team information. Along with impressing fans, these displays pump up and prepare them to root for their home team.
Along with its ability to connect up to four displays on one device, the size of AOPEN’s ultra-small form factor media player made it easy to mount the device behind displays or in tight spaces for a clean and seamless appearance.
NueQ also installed mPRESS Video Boards to help remind fans to connect with the team through various social media sources. With the advent of smart devices, these connections are now more important and instantaneous than ever.
"Improving the fan experience prior to each season is one of our passions," RedHawks President/General Manager Michael Byrnes said. "The new concourse video boards provide key information and enhance the fans' experience.”
The All-Star performance of the RedHawks, NueQ, and AOPEN has transformed the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark into a digital experience for all fans.
